Talent Development

Costain wants to develop future managers who understand the business at grass roots and have developed internal and external relationships that will support their success. We invest significantly in a range of programmes to develop our talent, recognising that we want people to develop width to their skills as well as to progress.

The Project Management Academy (PMA) aims to develop any staff member who wishes to develop their project management capability. It is open to all those prepared to make the commitment with the opportunity to develop their talent and accelerate their development.

The High Potential Programme (HPP) is a highly selective programme, aimed at identifying and developing talent across the group; individuals in the first 5 - 10 years of their career who have the capability and drive to progress. The programme is broad and runs over an 18 month period and includes implementing key change projects alongside the Executive Board.

The 2020 board is selected through an assessment centre from applicants who have between 2 and 3 years post graduation experience with Costain. The 12 delegates are selected on the basis of their potential to be on the Board by 2020 and as part of the programme participate in a role playing business scenario as well as carrying out real business projects.
