Performance

Performance is key to success, and we are encouraging our leaders to identify and manage both good and bad performance.

We achieved a 97% completion rate in performance reviews in 2008, and encourage our people to define their roles through the use of Internal Job Profiles. We want our people to take ownership of their own skills and development through their Personal Skills and Development Plan.

We are determined our managers use their skills and confidence to motivate and manage their teams. Such skills have been integrated into the Costain annual performance review process with a focus on delivering objectives and building on the strengths of our staff. In 2009 we will implement a web based competence tool that will become a key feature of our performance management strategy.
